The SMAS (Building for the Water and Sanitation Municipal Services) is a provocative project by proposing a contemporary architecture to solve a discontinuity of the urban fabric of the historic area of Montijo. An initial volume was molded to fit the built together, sewing the different volumetric, arch centerings and architectural styles.

The shape suggests a carved block of stone that develops on the inside of the lote, deconstructing the image of the block and proposing an internal movement that unites two central streets. The marble lined the facades are marked by aligned vertical openings according to traditional metrics. The building is located Cunhal where the entry is “dematerialized” by using a translucent stone lit from the inside.
